Over 250 students attended the YGD workshop as part of the fantastic day-long programme of events at TeenTech. Speakers included Mark Green (Games Specialist, The Science Museum), Ian Reynolds (Programmer, Quartic Llama), Sophia George and Kristian Francis (both of Swallowtail Games).
Students attending this three-day games design masterclass took part in a YGD workshop to develop their ideas. Experts including Michael Humphrey (Senior Designer, SCEE Studio Liverpool), Gary Penn (Head of Development, Denki) and Kristian Francis (3D Artist, Swallowtail) were on hand to guide students through the design process.
This workshop, with speakers including Johnny Minkley (former editor of Eurogamer TV), Rob Davis (Founder, Playniac) and Erin Michno (Programmer, Quartic Llama), took place as part of the Edinburgh Interactrive Festival's public events programme.
Expert speakers at this workshop included Denes Nagymathe (Head of Innovation, Ubisoft Reflections), Matt Clarke (Lead Designer, Eutechnyx), Mark Sample (Editorial Manager, Thumbstar) and Kristian Francis (3D Artist, Swallowtail) who offered design tips and advice to students from five local schools.
Ending our YGD workshop series on a high, school students and members of the public were given the chance to attend the Expo and get advice on their games ideas froma team of experts including Mark Parry (Senior Designer at SCEE London Studio), Mike Bithell (Lead Designer at Bossa Studios and creator of Thomas Was Alone), Georg Backer (formerly of Lionhead, where he worked on titles including The Movies and the Fable series), Daniel Leaver (Creative Director at Ambient Studios) and Sophia George (of Swallowtail Games).
