All Alone

All Alone – Thomas Robson, 17

“An atmospheric 2D platformer, exploring the struggles that come with mental illness through metaphors and ambiguity.”

My game is a rather simplistic 2D platformer in which the player must explore a dark forest, suspended in time. In this endeavour, the player must avoid falling into pits of dark mist, avoid enemies, as well as various other hazards. The game consists of 4 levels, each with it's own unique design, mechanic, or setting.

Aside from technical skills, I also learned a lot about design. This was the first time I decided to plan every level I'd made in its entirety before making it. This isn't to say I had never planned levels before, but never to this extent. I also learned a lot about level design, especially pacing and level progression.
